Keep a folder in step, without thinking about it

A small program that sits by the clock and keeps a folder on your PC matched to a ShareWith share link — up, down or both ways. The link and its password are all it needs, so nobody has to be given an account on the server.

What it does

Three ways to sync, and nothing ever destroyed

swap_vert

Both ways

Changes travel in both directions. If the same file changed in both places, the newer one wins and the other is kept beside it — never overwritten silently.

north

Upload only

This PC is the source. Anything you put in the folder goes up; nothing comes down. Good for a camera folder, a scanner, or an app that writes reports.

south

Download only

The cloud is the source. Everyone gets the same folder, and nothing local can leak upwards.

A share link has no permission to delete anything in the cloud, and the agent has no delete call to make — so a file removed on the PC comes back on the next sync rather than disappearing for everybody. Cloud-side removals are mirrored only if you ask, and even then the local copy is moved to a _ShareWith deleted folder rather than erased.
Setup

Running in about a minute

1

Run the installer

It installs into your own profile — no administrator prompt, nothing to unpack. Leave Start with Windows ticked and it will be there after every restart.

2

Paste the share link

The whole link, e.g. https://sharewith.xyz/s/team-files, plus its password if it has one. Test link proves all of it before anything is saved.

3

Choose a folder and a direction

Anything already in the folder is compared with the share on the first pass, so matching files are left alone. After that it reacts to changes within seconds and checks the share on a timer you set.

For administrators

Rolling it out

The installer takes a command line, so it can go out through a login script or any deployment tool. Everything it writes is under the user's own profile and HKCU.

ShareWithAgentSetup.exe --silent :: install, start with Windows
ShareWithAgentSetup.exe --silent --no-startup :: install, do not start with Windows
ShareWithAgentSetup.exe --silent --dir "D:\Apps\ShareWith Agent"
ShareWithAgentSetup.exe --uninstall --silent :: remove, keep nothing
ShareWithAgentSetup.exe --uninstall --silent --keep-settings

The agent itself can be set up head-less too, which is what a PC nobody logs into needs:

ShareWithAgent.exe --set-share https://sharewith.xyz/s/team-files ^
--password "the link password" --folder "D:\Team files" ^
                   --direction both --interval 10
ShareWithAgent.exe --sync-once     :: one pass; 0 = fine, 1 = something failed
ShareWithAgent.exe --status :: what is configured, and where the log is
Installs to%LocalAppData%\Programs\ShareWith Agent
Settings and log%AppData%\ShareWith Agent
